Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies

I have a confession to make.  :(

I'm supposed to be learning new eating habits, and changing how I look at food.  Then I tried one of these cookies...

Cookie!  I blame you!  Even if you do look like Pac-Man.
I was one of the lucky moms selected to receive Influenster's MomVoxBox.  It was a box of promotional items for me to try and and then give my honest opinion on them.  I love trying out free things and then whining about them, so I thought this was perfect for me.

I'm not really much of a sweets eater.  In fact, I'm not big on cookies at all.  However, when I do eat cookies, I eat dos cookies prefer oatmeal raisin.  Unfortunately, that wicked combination leaves my very picky.  Oh, alright you got me.  I'd be picky even if I had an appetite for cookies like Cookie Monster.  I really didn't have many expectations for this cookie other than if I wanted it to myself, I'd have to lock myself in the bathroom to eat it.

Well, I didn't have to lock myself in the bathroom.  I sat outside in my truck while it was pouring down rain and ate most of it.  I have to say I was highly impressed by it.  More realistically, I scarfed it down, drooled at the thought of another one, and bought some more later to hide in my office at work for when I'm having a bad day and only a cookie can make it better.  Well a cookie, ice cream, or a shag.  I'm not necessarily picky there.

The texture of these cookies are really great.  They're dense, but they don't hurt your mouth because they're actually soft.  A lot of times I've tried store-bought cookies marked as "soft" and I'm left wondering what benchmarks they used for their softness tests.  On the other hand, sometimes you run afoul of those cookies where soft really means "wet sponge without the wet."  Yum.  They had a great flavor and they actually tasted better than the last batch of cookies I tried to make.  Then again, that's not necessarily saying much.  They were generously sized, with each cookie weighing around 1.8 ounces.  Each cookie is individually packaged to help curtail eating of the whole box.  According to the nutritional guide, they have 170 calories and 6 grams of fat, a good source of fiber (16%) and they're made with whole grain oats.  Whole grain QUAKER oats, which I'm assuming means they're either extremely pious or wiggly.

My major complaint is that they suck moisture out of my mouth like there's no tomorrow.  Even more so than most cookies.  I mean, I realize that they're probably not going to be the most refreshing thing out there, but these kinda hurt.  But man oh man do they hurt so good.  In fact, if you need me I'll be in the gym, working off the cookie that I'm going to have as a snack.
